How to get good at Systems Analysis in less than 5 minutes?

I was trying to see if there was an extra list closing tag in either of the first two snippets. Since HTML is a horrible language, I had to rely on regular expressions, among other things. It’s amazing how convoluted the web designed languages like HTML and XML can be. Do you think that someone came up with these “language” after deciding they needed better ways to transfer information over the internet? It looks like some hybrid of PHP and assembler maybe written by kids playing around when bored in class!
